My favorite memory of Mr. Brown was when I was about six years old in my Halloween costume, walking alone up to the Brown’s East Main St. residence. Knocking on the door and being told I could get my treat over there, with the beheaded man sitting in a chair on the front porch. Scared the living daylights out of me.

As a Village employee, I had the privilege of working with Mr. Brown while he was the Parks Commission Chair. He was a dedicated community member who loved Avon. I’ll miss his sense of humor, gleam in his eye, and his banter.

Thoughts and prayers to the entire Brown family,
Christine McKeown Quinlan

So many fond memories of Dwight. In church he would always come over to talk to Connor and Mattison- usually to hassle them a little bit and always with a twinkle in his eye. He will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go to the entire family during this difficult time.

Memories of Growing up with Dad aka Gramps...

Arm punching,
Ball busting,
Rock collecting,
Dessert edging
Neighborhood clearing dinnertime whistling,
Anti-squirrel warrior.

Lemon Meringue pie puckering,
Competitive penny pinching,
Out-of-the-box Christmas present wrapping,
3rd story house painting,
Sunblock applying,
Pink Panther Master Mixer.

Creative tier and cage gardening,
Slow wallet opening,
Very LOUD sneezing,
Weekly allowance coin stacking,
Standard transmission hillside parallel parking,
Definitely a "Delight" Brown.

Steel toe work boot jogging,
Church choir singing,
Jello inhaling,
Wheelbarrow grilling,
Halloween costume making,
Gifted wood carver.

Word game "Boggle" avoiding,
Toaster with tongs managing,
TV time apple peeling,
Mounds and Almond Joy savoring,
No-Name Game "manufacturing",
Mandatory front seat passenger.

Inventive word creating: wrassling (wrestling), Carnivore virus (Corona virus), anti-presperant (anti-perspirant), hovering (rhyming with "overing"), warsh (wash)....
Beach and boat eschewing,
Found golf ball absconding (especially Bridgestone Lady Precepts),
Five Arch Bridge restoring,
Challenged at card shuffling,
Humble WWII Veteran.

Precise Pink Panther pouring,
Richmond Lane sled pulling,
Endless shrimp consuming,
Panama hat wearing,
Dusty $20 bill dispensing,
Finger licking card dealer.

Reverent and God-fearing,
Civic duty responding,
American flag flying,
Family embracing,
Hatfield adoring,
Cherished Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather.

With Love always from your children,
Susan, Cheryl, Steven, and Scott

All the best things about Gramps

Dwight was a great citizen who did so much for Avon. I remember him as a wonderful golf member of our league. His humor was legendary. My prayers for Joan and Steve and the rest of the family.
