Fred & Judy were friends of my husband , Tony, and I at Tamarack Campgrounds for many years. We enjoyed some great times together with all our friends at the campground. Fred was a busy guy there, always helping anyone who needed it. I left the campground a few years ago after most all of the old gang had moved on and Tony had been deceased for almost 15 years, and kind of lost tract of the Demings. Judy, my thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. JoAnne Galiotti

My favorite memories of Fred (or Butch, as some called him) were from working with him at the water plant. Fred worked primarily midnights for the 11 years he was with us. We often used the phrase "Midnight Karma" to describe how things happened at night vs. the day shift.

As many of you probably already know, Fred was a little... let's just say "jumpy". Any time that I was walking through the plant and happened come into an area where Fred was, I would purposely start making noise at quite a distance from him, so as not to make him jump by saying "Hi Fred" if he didn't realize I was there.

Some of the most enjoyable stories that I: ever hear were from Fred. He had a way of making them interesting. One night I came into work and Fred had already been there for a couple of hours. He told me when he had walked outside about an hour earlier, he noticed someone standing against a large white tank on the property. He stopped quick in his tracks and started yelling at the guy. He yelled a few times, but the guy never answered back. Fred took off his hat to scratch his head and was saying "I wonder why this guy isn't answering me?". As he did that, he noticed the guy near the tank was waving his hat back at Fred. Yep.... it's true. Fred was afraid of his own shadow that night.

While Fred worked at the plant, most people enjoyed it there. He brought a level of humor and fun to the place. I think he enjoyed the attention and being involved in the practical jokes we used to play on each other. I could go on and on about the things people did to test Fred's level of being jumpy. I will say that I felt a little bad the night I scared him so bad he back-pedaled a little in the air as he knocked his dentures loose.

We missed him when he retired and I'm sure he'll be missed even more now that he's gone. My condolences to his family and friends. He was a good man.
