Obituary

Ronald E. Dockstader

AVON - Died suddenly at his home on August 19, 2020 at age 77. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Carole (Lenz) Dockstader; children, Andrea Haas of Geneseo, Eric Dockstader of Avon; granddaughter, Meghin Haas; great granddaughter, Natalie; sister, Judith (Richard) Maurer; brother, Wayne Dockstader; sister-in-law, Ann Lenz; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Robert Lenz.

Ron was a decorated Navy Veteran and served during the Vietnam War. He received two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. He retired from Strong after 30 years of service.

Services and interment were held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675.

Ron was a wonderful human being, patriot, friend, and neighbor. He was kind, sweet, caring, sharing. He loved his family and his animals. I can look out now and see his two horses. As I wrote his daughter Andrea, Ron undoubtedly quickly was brought into Heaven where he is sharing racing tips with all who will listen and telling God which chariots and horses are the fastest.

Ron shared lots of stories with my husband, Paul, and me. Some were about his horses, his life, his family. No matter what difficulties Ron encountered as he told these stories, they were invariably positive stories about overcoming challenges. Indeed, he did overcome many challenges, but this last one took him and everyone around him by surprise.

We will sadly miss him and his inspiration. We will endeavor to always place American flags outside his barn. We promise also to watch over our friend, his daughter, as well as his granddaughter, and wonderful great granddaughter whom we have come to call our little Pixie girl. A caring and sweet guy is gone but he will never be forgotten. And, Ron, we thank you again for your service to our country. Fondly, Karen
