"Papa"

SCOTTSVILLE - October 22, 2018 at age 75. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Betty Bennett; children, Deborah (Brian) Webb, Brett (Kathleen) Bennett, Mark (Tiffany) Farrell and Steven (Jill) Farrell; brother, Richard Bennett; grandchildren, Jessica (Matthew), Cody, Kristen, Jordan, Austin, Ethan, Meghan, Alison and Evan; great-grandson, Jack; step brothers, Roger, Bob, Dick; step sister, Sally; sisters-in-law, Jane (David) Leamon, Sharon Rosselli; brother-in-law, James McDaniel; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Bob, Alfred, Skip, Kathy, Bubba, Fish.

He was predeceased by his parents, George and Gertrude; step-father, Clarence House.

Ron was devoted to his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandson and friends. He was the Super Pro track champion at NY International Raceway Park and was known for his giant wheel stands (Papa-wheelies). Some of his many hobbies included drag racing, snowmobiling with friends and family, watching his grandchildren’s sporting events and school activities, morning breakfast at the Scottsville Diner and being in local parades with his famous 4 engine tractor. He owned a small engine repair business and had well over 300 customers. Ron was the local MacGyver, he could fix anything and he would for anyone.


Family and friends are invited to call Friday 4-8 PM at the Stephenson-Dougherty Funeral Home Inc., 350 Genesee St., Avon. A Celebration of his Life will be held Saturday 3 PM at the Smith Warren American Legion Post #367, 61 Main St., Scottsville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Assoc., 6315 Fly Road, Suite 102, E. Syracuse, NY 13057 or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
