(Ximena), Patrick (Holly Wager);
sister-in-law Linda Henry (Fred);
sister-in-law Lois Organ Vogt Constanza;
19 grandchildren; 3 great
grandchildren; several nieces and
nephews.

Predeceased by his parents John Carl and Hortense Kathryn
Keefe Vogt; brothers William Mervin and Carl Vogt.

Don was born in Dansville, New York. He was married to
his high school sweet heart and formed a union of 60+ years.
He was a veteran of the Korean War. He graduated from St. Bonaventure
University in 1959 and at almost 50 years of age with 8 children went
on to receive a Masters in Public Education from SUNY Brockport. After
some corporate business experience, he started his 35+ academic business
career as the second official employee in a two person business
department at St. John Fisher College. He went on to become the VP of
Finance at the college and was later recruited by Niagara University and
became the first lay person to hold the same position.

Don believed in volunteerism and giving back and to that end he was
one of the founders of the Lima baseball program, former member of
Lima Planning board, and past President of the Lima School Board leading
the union of the Honeoye Falls - Lima school merger. A 50+ year
member of St. Rose Church as a parishioner, business manager, Sunday
school teacher, and Eucharistic Minister. Retirement did not slow
him down. He volunteered for over 20 years in various capacities including
past President of the HFM Seniors Association, American Red Cross,
Highland Hospital, certified Omnsbudsmen for Lifespan, and a driver for
Friends in Service (FISH).

Family and friends are invited to call Thursday January 12 from 2 - 4
and 7 - 9PM at the O’Connell-Dougherty Funeral Home, 2041 Lake Ave.,
Lima. His Funeral Service will be held on Friday January 13 at 10AM
St. Rose Church, Lima. In lieu of flowers memorials may be mailed to
St. John Fisher College Office of Institutional Advancement, 3690 East
Ave, Rochester, NY 14618-3597: attention John C. and Hortense K.
